iPad Debate: Flash or HTML5
There has been speculation over the iPad's browser not having the correct support for the Adobe Flash Player. Apple CEO Steve Jobs lashed out at Adobe calling them "Lazy" and stating that the Adobe flash player is one of the main culprit's for Apple systems crashing.
Apple are claiming that the iPad hasn't a need for Flash and can get by using HTML5. HTML5 is the next major revision of HTML and is looking very promising and feature rich. Whether or not it can replace flash is another story but the important thing is that HTML5 will almost certainly change the way we use and build the internet drastically.
New Features in HTML5
The canvas element for immediate mode 2D drawing Timed media playback Document editing Cross-document messaging Browser history management MIME type and protocol handler registration
Youtube have already implemented HTML5 into their site and can be beta tested at http://www.youtube.com/html5. The editors of HTML5 are Google inc's Ian Hickson and you as you may have guessed.. Apple inc's David Hyatt.
It's hard to say which way this argument will go as all developers have different traits and look for different things in languages. If you want to get a better grasp on what HTML5 can really do, there's a great video by Ian Hickson at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIxDJof7xxQ.
