What? A Kindle App For the iPad?

Blackberry users rejoice at the recently released Kindle for Blackberry App, which is big news, but certain may have overlooked a sentence in the press release. It mentioned a Kindle app for the iPad, leaving certain asking, huh?

From the press release, here is the opening paragraph's second sentence:

"Amazon's Whispersync technology saves and synchronizes a customer's bookmarks across their Kindle, Kindle DX, iPhone, iPod touch, PC, BlackBerry and soon, Mac and iPad, so customers always have their reading material with them and never lose their place".

It should be noted from this press release sentence that Amazon and Apple are business partners on the market. Yes, they might be huge competitors, but to become the top companies in this market, their partnership is vital to this multi-billion dollar business. They know that they have to offer products that can work hand-in-hand to satisfy the consumers' growing ereader technology needs.

Amazon and Apple functioning together are truly a force that can't be messed with. Kindle for iPhone App and Amazon's Stanza app are popular purchases in the Apple Store for iPhone and iPod owners. It is almost certain that the iPad will soon follow. Amazon's Kindle Store owns 90% of ebook sales, and combined, these two companies dominate the market.

Here is a future prediction:

Although iPad owners will have the option of reading books on their shiny new gadget, they won't spend much time reading books. Perhaps they will read the newspaper or magazines and comic books, but as for actual books, they won't probably bother. The reason for this would be that the iPad is a multi-function gadget that is marketed to a new type of consumer who spends his time doing other tasks. Conclusion: they won't be purchasing lots of books from the iBookstore.

With this being predicted, Amazon will still hold tight to the ebook market at 80%-90% of the sales. The iPad won't be a competitor in this market even with its huge future sales. iPad owners will obtain it simpler to download the Kindle iPad App and read Kindle books. Amazon may see a slight decline in magazine and newspaper sales, but really, do they really sell a lot now?

It is fun to speculate, but overall, Amazon and Apple are in business to not really only make money, but also succeed in their visions. Together as partners and competitors, they can be offering the consumer the most effective of technology.
